Joseph Brusuelas is a Senior Economist with Bloomberg, LP and the Bloomberg Briefs newsletter group. He specializes in analyzing the U.S. economy, monetary policy, labor markets, fiscal policy, economic indicators and the condition of the U.S. consumer. He is a co-founder of the award winning Bloomberg Economic Brief and was recently named as one of the 25 economists to follow by the Huffington Post. He regularly appears on Bloomberg Television and Bloomberg Radio and is frequently quoted by the financial press on the U.S. and global economies. He is the co-author of Forex Analysis and Trading: Effective Top-Down Strategies Combining Fundamental, Position, and Technical Analyses and the upcoming “Its Worse Than You Think: The US Economy and the Decline of the American Middle Class,” both published by Wiley.
Mr. Brusuelas has more than 20 years of experience in finance and economics. Prior to joining Bloomberg in May 2010, he was a director at Moody’s Analytics. Earlier in his career, he served as Chief Economist and Strategist at Merk Investments and also was Chief US Economist at IDEAglobal.
He has completed all but the dissertation requirements for a PhD in Political Economy and Public Policy at the University of Southern California. He holds a BA and an MA in Political Science from San Diego State University.
